Fall semester is finallly over! I don't think I have ever looked forward to a break from school so much as I have these past few weeks! I wouldn't call it a break really, I have 2 Winter Session classes that start on Monday, but at least I won't have a full load. When I am done with these two classes I will officially have enough credits to graduate. I will be taking 3 classes and doing some research in the Spring at ASU in preparation for graduate school. It will be challenging, but that is par for the course for me.
Edwin and I will be heading up to Flagstaff for some skiing and relaxing next weekend. John, Sherril and Emil will be joining us. Of course the pooches will come too. I have ordered all of them new jackets so they don't get too cold in the snow. I will post some pictures when we get back.
Edwin is almost done with the backyard. He has been working really hard on it. I wish I had been able to help, but studying has to come first. We will have 15 tons of gravel delivered the weekend after Christmas. If anyone has free time and would like to come help, please let us know! I will post some pictures online when it is all done.
Happy Chrismuhanakwanzakah to all!

All is well in Mesa. Brutus has recovered from his surgery. All that is left is a nasty scar on his tummy. I (Krista) am now a couple of weeks into classes and loving it. I miss my free time, but in the end it will be worth it. I am taking Diversity in Education, Society and Education, Educational Psychology (seeing a theme here?), and my senior capstone project, Aiding Democracy Abroad. Needless to say I have a lot of reading to do. I actually think I need to go to the eye doctor as I feel like I am slowly becoming blind from reading!
Edwin and I celebrated our second anniversary last week. He had mentioned that he wanted to take an intro to golf class, so I got him a set of clubs and some lessons. Hopefully he will have time to enjoy them. He has been working 12hr days and was at work on Saturday this past weekend as well. He should be moving over to Fiesta Mall in about 6 weeks.
I signed up to be a part of International Friends again this year. I was paired with three PhD students from China all seeking degrees in Economics. We met for lunch last week in the Student Union. They were all very nice and had big smiles on their faces the whole time. I hope to see more of them this semester. I have also been keeping in touch with Anurag from India and Sunjing from china that I was paired with last year when I was at the UofA. It is nice to literally have friends from all over the world to share perspectives and stories with.
One last thing. This weekend I am attending the annual Creating Keepsakes scrapbooking convention in Phoenix. I love scrapbooking, but am still a bit embarrassed of my obsession with it. I think this will have been the 8th one I have attended. For the past several years I have volunteered for 1/2 of a day and then take classes with the credit that they give me for helping. Not only is it nice to get to attend the classes for free, but I enjoy being a Teacher's Assistant in the classroom. It exposes me to a lot of techniques that I have not yet seen, and I have made a few friends a long the way. If anyone is interested, you can check it out at http://www.ckscrapbookevents.com/

On Wednesday last week we had to rush our oldest dog Brutus to the Emergency Room. He was acting funny and he was bloated. Turns out that his stomach was twisted. He had gastric dialation syndrome. (click here for more info on what it is and how it happens.) He had to have major surgery. I am overly paranoid with my doggies, and I knew something wasn't right, so I took him in late that night. If I hadn't the doc said he would have passed away. Because we caught it early, he had a better chance of recovering, even though he is old (he's almost 12!). The odds were against him, but he made it out okay. He's still recovering at home, and taking advantage of the extra treats and good food that he gets to have. He goes to the doctor on Sept 1st to get the staples out of his tummy.

Edwin has been a Project Manager for Westcor for about 8 months now. His current project, The San Tan Village Shopping Center, is nearing completion. It's going to be a very nice, upscale mall. Check it out at shopsantanvillage.com. Grandma keeps asking Ed when the Dairy Queen will be done so we will have one closer to the house. Grandma and her ice cream, oh my. Edwin's next project will be renovating Fiesta Mall. Too bad we don't get a discount!

Summer School is officially over! I (Krista) am only 21 credits away from graduating! I've got two weeks until fall semester starts, and a long list of chores to get done! Edwin and I are attempting to tackle the backyard. Hopefully we will have it done before school starts! I'm also working on redesigning the site, so check back soon and let us know if you like the new look!

Exciting News! We have a new addition to our family. Yesterday Edwin and I brought home a little bundle of joy that we adopted. He is 2 1/2 months old and weighs 12 pounds. We have named him Hercules. If you didn't figure out from the name, he is a four-legged kid. We rescued him from a busy intersection last Friday and had to take him to the pound because he had hundreds of ticks on him. He is well on his path to recovery and the older kids are slowly adjusting to having him around.

We have been in our new house in Mesa for about 2 months now, and we are almost completely settled in. The pool will be done tomorrow, and there are only a few more walls to paint. I (krista) am still looking for a new job, but with everything happening here at the house and the 17 credit hours that I have this semester, I have been keeping myself busy. Edwin is enjoying his new job at Westcor. A few days ago we went to a preview night at the New San Tan Harkins, which is phase I of the new mall. Everything went well.
We have changed our plans for our next trip to Indonesia. We will be going to Edith's graduation in Glasgow, Scotland in November, so we are pushing our trip to Indonesia off till May 2008, after I graduate.
Pictures of our new house can be found in our Photo Albums If you are in town give us a call and come see our new house and go for a swim!
